Wives and Daughters (1999) |
While the Romantic period in literature was about 1780-1840, what is generally referred to as the "Romantic" period in fashion would be in-between the Regency and Victorian eras - circa 1820s and 30s. Period dramas with these fashions include Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell and Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens.
The American Girl Josephina books are set in this time period (1824), and while the fashions bear similarities, they are different because she comes from a Hispanic culture.
